A quick reference guide to amateur radio repeaters in and around Rowan County, NC. This list includes repeaters within approximately 30 miles of Salisbury.

According to trustee, K4DFI, this 2m repeater began operations on 1970-11-22. It has operated under multiple call signs originally stewarded by the Barber Junction Repeater Association:
- K4GHR (1970-11 to 1971-02)
- W4EXU (1971-02 to 1973-03 though it was never operated by the Rowan ARS)
- WR4AAA (1973-03-13 to 1979-10-25)
- KU4PT (since 1979)
This repeater’s fequency was at 146.28/88 until 1974-02 and then 146.13/73.

This a newer radio linked repeater network. The repeaters are still under development. There may be other complimentary repeaters near Gastonia, NC and Lancaster, SC which are not yet published due to coordination and other issues; these are believed to be in the 2m band – possibly 145.45 -0.600 Mhz and 145.21 -0.600 MHz offset, respectively. The network uses the same tones uniformly.
The network may eventually grow to a 5th repeater. Advertised to have robust power.

(Young’s Mountain may be marked as being in Cleveland, Barber Junction, or Salisbury. It’s most closely located in the Barber Junction community. It is the highest land point in Rowan County.)

Programming Tips
- Most modern radios can store these as memory channels
- Always verify the tone (PL/CTCSS) is correct before transmitting
- “TSQL” means it has tones both for uplink and downlink. Having the tone on your receiving frequency allows your radio to squelch competing repeaters.
- Standard offsets: 2m uses +/- 0.600 MHz, 70cm uses +/- 5.000 MHz
- Negative offset (-) means transmit frequency is lower than receive
